Brazilian Lawmaker Pepper Sprayed at Brasilia Protest

Rallies against a proposed law that would allow companies to outsource jobs turned violent in Brazil’s capital Brasilia on Tuesday, April 7, as police clashed with protesters. The protests, organized by the Central Workers Union, were held in 12 cities around the country. Congressman Vicente Paulo da Silva, better known as Vicentinho, of the center-left Workers’ Party was pepper sprayed during the Brasilia rally in front of Congress.

This video is described as showing Vicentinho’s reaction after being pepper sprayed. “I like pepper, but not in the eye,” said Vicentinho, according to a reporter that took the footage. Credit: Instagram/phill_rodrigues
