California Beaches Remain Closed After Tar Balls Wash Up on Shore

Beaches south of Los Angeles — the South Bay — remained closed on May 29 as workers continued to remove tar balls that washed up on the shore. The globs started washing up on May 27, which prompted the closure of beaches and swimming areas, according to local media. The cause of the tar balls has yet to be determined.
