Campaigners Make Big Statement Ahead of Gay Marriage Vote

An Irish design company decided to make a big statement to encourage people to vote yes to same sex marriage, when Ireland holds a referendum on extending the right to same-sex couples on Friday, May 22. All Out Design took to Dublin Bay to creates a giant “Yes” in the sand.

The results of a opinion poll released a week out from the marriage vote suggest the franchise will be extended to same-sex couples. Homosexuality was decriminalised in Ireland in 1993.

If the referendum passes, Ireland would become the first country in the world to allow same-sex couples to marry thanks to a popular vote. Credit: All Out Design / Steve O’Donnell
