Carter Promises to 'Watch Iran Closely' During Visit to Israel

US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter co-host a press conference with his Israeli counterpart Moshe Ya’alon in Tel Aviv on Monday, July 20. Ashton said his trip to Israel symbolizes “80 years of close friendship” between the two countries. Carter also promised to “watch Iran very closely” after the United States and six other world powers agreed a deal on Tehran’s nuclear programme.

Carter is scheduled to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday. Netanyahu said the nuclear deal makes the world “a more dangerous place today than yesterday”. The UN Security Council unanimously endorsed the accord on July 20.
