Children Among Victims in Bombing of Douma

Syrian activists reported that 35 people were killed in the suburbs of Damascus on Tuesday, June 16. Many of the casualties were in Douma, according to activists in that suburb, who said that several children were killed. Al Jazeera said the strikes involved so-called “elephant rockets”, improvised ground-to-ground rockets known for their imprecision and destructive power.

In this report, Yasser Doumani, a local activist, says civilian properties were hit in the strikes. He says the dead included many women and children. He also says ground-to-ground rockets were used. Credit: YouTube/Yasser Doumani
