China Launches New Flight Route Amid Taiwanese Opposition

Protesters from the anti-China Taiwan Solidarity Union tussled with police on Sunday, March 29, outside the Taipei Martyr’s Shrine to express their anger over China’s launch of a flight route over the Taiwan Strait. Demonstrators said President Ma Ying-jeou’s government failed to stand up to Beijing and that he should resign for “betraying and humiliating the country”.

Straits Times reported that some protesters threw slippers and eggs during the protest. These images show the protest on March 29. Protesters held another demonstration outside the Executive Yuan on Monday, March 30, during which some of them threw shoes at police officers, according to local TV station CTS.
