Chris Christie Calls for Renewal of Patriot Act

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said on Monday, May 18, that it was “wrong” to not renew provisions in the Patriot Act that allow for surveillance. During a speech at a VFW hall in Hudson, New Hampshire, Christie, who is considering a presidential run, described the effect the 9/11 attacks had on his family and state and the need to continue to gather intelligence.

“We took the steps that were necessary to be able to intercede and interfere in those terrorist organizations. And now I feel we are moving backwards; we’re becoming complacent,” he said. Credit: Facebook/Chris Christie
