A Close Look at Earth, From 600km Above

The satellite technology firm Skybox Imaging has filmed what it describes as “the world’s first high-definition video of Earth taken by a commercial remote sensing satellite”. The company plans to have a constellation of 24 small satellites in orbit by 2015 and this video, taken by the first of them, SkySat 1, showcases the capabilities of the technology, showing realtime traffic in Las Vegas and Tokyo and supply vehicles in Aleppo, Syria.
