Coalition Airstrikes Help Kurdish Forces Retake Sinjar

Iraqi Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani said on Friday, November 13, that the northern Iraqi town of Sinjar, strategically positioned near Islamic State’s headquarters in Raqqa, Syria, had been liberated from IS control after a major Kurdish offensive supported by coalition forces.

The footage here is described as showing coalition aircraft conducting strikes on IS targets near Sinjar on November 11. The top video is said to show the destruction of an “improvised explosive device,” while the video below is said to show “multiple strikes on various Islamic State” targets.

Under the second video, the coalition said: “The Nov. 11 strikes destroyed numerous targets to include: 27 ISIL fighting positions, two ISIL vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices, nine separate ISIL tactical units, nine ISIL staging areas, six ISIL assembly areas, two ISIL caches and four ISIL staging areas.” Credit: YouTube/CJTF OIR
