Coast Guard Footage Shows Rescue of 12 Off Haiti in Joaquin's Wake

The US Coast Guard staged a rescue on Thursday night of 12 people from a disabled Bolivian cargo ship off the northern coast of Haiti, floundering in heavy weather from Hurricane Joaquin. This video shows the 212-foot vessel, Minouche, listing as it takes on water prior to rescue operations. The Coast Guard said more than $2 million in cargo was aboard the ship. The US Coast Guard was alerted to the scene by its British counterpart.

The Coast Guard also reported on Friday it would fly aircrews into Hurricane Joaquin to search for a container ship, gone missing in the storm with a crew of 33 aboard. Credit: Twitter/US Coast Guard
