Puerto Rico suffered 24 extreme weather events

including Hurricane Maria which battered the island in 2017

Second worst hit during the same time period was Myanmar

followed by Haiti, Philippines and Mozambique

Over 475,000 people lost their lives between 2000 and 2019

as a direct result of more than 11,000 extreme weather events
