Cuban Migrants Come Ashore at Miami Beach

Twelve Cubans came ashore at Miami Beach on September 15 to a greeting from local people. The group included 11 men, one 16-year-old girl and a dog, who had been at sea six days, local media reported

US Border Patrol took the group into custody, but the “wet-foot, dry-foot” policy may allow them to stay. The policy, in general, allows Cubans who reach the US mainland to stay. Those intercepted at sea are returned to Cuba.

Videos from the scene and on local news show those on the beach greeting the migrants. This video also shows the boat the migrants used to sail to Florida. Credit: Instagram/carlosreyesles
