Debate About Television Debates Rumbles On

The debate about the proposed television debates due to take place during the general election campaign continued in the House of Commons on Wednesday, March 11. Labour leader Ed Miliband accused prime minister David Cameron of being afraid to take part in a one-on-one debate.

A few hours before Prime Minister’s Questions, The Guardian and The Telegraph newspapers, in conjunction with YouTube, proposed hosting a debate before campaigning officially begins at the end of March in order to accommodate Cameron, who does not want to take part in a televised debate during the campaign itself.
