Delta State University 'Mourning the Loss of a Beloved Colleague', Says College President

A press conference was held at Delta State University on Monday, September 14, in the aftermath of a shooting which left one member of staff dead and the college campus on lockdown. Ethan A. Schmidt, an assistant history professor at the college was reportedly shot and killed Monday as he sat in his office at the university. At the time of publication, the suspect, Shannon Lamb was still at large.

Addressing the media, Delta State president, William N. LaForge, said, “We mourn the loss of our beloved colleague, Ethan Schmidt, who served us so well.”

When questioned about the whereabout of the suspect, LaForge said, “We have checked the campus out thoroughly. We believe that our buildings are clear. And our students, most importantly, are safe.” Credit: YouTube/Keith Fulcher
