Demonstrators at WalMart on 'Black Friday' Seek Higher Wages for Its Workers

Demonstrations took place at several WalMart stores in the US on Friday, November 27, the day marketers have succeeded in dubbing Black Friday. Protests at WalMart stores have become common on the day after Thanksgiving, and in some circumstances, have persuaded WalMart management to raise wages. Still, a starting worker at the retailer makes $9 an hour, and thousands of WalMart workers get by on government assistance.
