Drone Gives Unique Inside View of Dublin Chimneys

Storyful

Iconic to some, ugly to others, Dublin’s Poolbeg Chimneys have been beacons in the city’s skyline since 1970. This video, taken by a drone, gives a previously unseen view of the darkened interior of one of the chimneys. The video emerged amid a period of uncertainty over the future of the towers. At 680 feet high, they are the tallest structures in Dublin, visible from most parts of the city.

After being decommissioned in 2010, local debate has continued regarding whether to demolish the pair or to preserve them as historic symbols of industrial progress. Credit: Sky Pixels Ireland
