Drugs and Tobacco Found During Sydney Smuggling Raids

Thirteen people were charged by New South Wales police on September 30 in connection with the illegal smuggling of cigarettes. A joint task force from the federal and New South Wales police along with the Australian Border Force and Australian Crime Commission recovered “large amounts of illicit cigarettes” worth “$5.4 million” and a “quantity of cocaine,” during an operation on Sydney’s waterfront and at premises linked to the alleged smuggling.

The raids were part of Operation Mimum and were carried out by the Polaris Waterfront Task Force, according to a statement form New South Wales Police.
