Egypt Finalizes Dry Digging Work on New Suez Canal

Egyptian authorities completed dry digging work on the new Suez Canal, according to reports quoting military officials on Thursday, April 16. According to Dredging News Online, the canal is due to be completed in July. The project, led by the army and expected to cost $5bn, is seen as an attempt by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to stimulate Egypt’s economy, according to Reuters.
