Elderly Woman Entertains Florida Courtroom

Broward County Judge John Hurley got more than he bargained for on February 12 when dealing with 80-year-old Dolores Sheinis, who was in court on allegations that she had violated protective order from her ex-husband. What should have been a routine bond hearing instead was more akin to a comic routine as Sheinis deployed her sharp wit against Hurley, calling him “sweetheart” and saying he “could do better” as a judge.

“I gotta tell you, you brighten my day ma’am,” said the judge. “That’s what the last guy said and then he sued me,” Sheinis replied. Credit: Broward County Bond Court
