Ethanol Tanker Truck Overturns, Catches Fire on Busy Ohio Highway

A tanker truck carrying ethanol overturned in Columbus, Ohio, on July 1, catching fire and burning an overpass at the I-70 and I-270 interchange on the west side of the city. I-70 remained closed as the afternoon commute started in Columbus, and officials were working to re-open some of the ramps and roads in the area. The overpass was to be inspected to determine if it needed to be repaired or replaced after the wreck.

The driver also was charged with failure to control and transporting a hazardous load within city limits.

The driver was treated at the hospital, and state officials said there were no serious injuries reported.
