Eurogroup Refuses to Extend Greece's Loan Payment Deadline

An extraordinary meeting of the Eurogroup was held on June 27 to discuss the upcoming expiration of its financial arrangement with Greece. The group decided to not extend Greece’s credit, according to Reuters. It means Greece could default by missing its International Monetary Fund loan payment due on June 30.

Greek leaders have called for a referendum on the EU bailout plan for July 5 and asked EU leaders to push back the loan payment until after the vote.
