Fallen Iraqi Helicopter Pilot Undertakes Humanitarian Rescue


A Kurdish government helicopter carrying emergency aid to displaced Yazidis in the Sinjar mountains of northern Iraq crashed on August 12. The pilot, Major General Majid Abdul Salam, was killed in the crash. A New York Times reporter, and a Yazidi MP were injured among others. This footage shows a similar humanitarian mission undertaken by Salam before his death. Iraqi soldiers can be seen distributing aid and air-lifting civilians to safety.
