A brush fire had spread 40 acres between Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks, California, since starting at around 5.30 pm on Wednesday, November 11. The Ventura County Fire Department said the blaze, dubbed Banister Fire, was 50 percent contained at around 9 pm local time.
