FIFA Chief Proposes Israel-Palestine Peace Match

FIFA president Sepp Blatter proposed on Tuesday, May 19, hosting a peace soccer match in Zurich between Israel and Palestine, according to reports. The suggestion was made during the FIFA chief’s meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem.

Blatter’s visit to the Middle East comes as the Palestinian Football Association bids to ban Israel from international football, saying Israel obstructs its players from traveling – especially between Gaza and the West Bank. Blatter will meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Palestine’s soccer chief on Wednesday.
