Firefighters Drop Flame Retardant on Big Bear Fire

The Summit Fire, burning near California’s Big Bear Lake, had burned through 100 acres by 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 23. The fire was reported just after noon local time and was 30 percent contained on Sunday evening. Around 400 homes were evacuated and several roads were closed in the area. San Bernardino County firefighters were assisted by air tankers from Fresno.
