Firefighters Stop Spread of Giant California Wildfire

Firefighters gained more of an upper hand on the giant Lake Fire in the San Bernardino National Forest by the morning of June 23. The morning report lists the containment level at 30 percent. It had been 24 percent the previous night. Additionally, the fire did not grow and authorities are considering reopening Route 38, which has remained closed throughout the fire.

A total of 1,979 firefighters are battling the blaze, and the cost has reached $7 million.
