New Footage Shows Islamic State Militants in Central Ramadi

Islamic State fighters seized Ramadi, the capital of al-Anbar province, on May 17, gaining control of a strategic supplies route to Baghdad. Footage released on May 18 by Aamaq News Agency, an activist group sympathetic with Islamic State, shows scenes from the center of Ramadi after IS took control of the city. Ramadi’s distinctive Grand Mosque is pictured at the beginning of the footage.
