French Forces Evacuate Residents From Aden Amid Clashes

France evacuated 63 people, including French nationals, from the embattled southern Yemeni city of Aden on Sunday, April 5, amid ongoing clashes between Houthi fighters and local militias. Houthi forces, supported by allied military units, have been battling for days to seize the port city, which is one of the last remaining strongholds for fighters loyal to President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

According to a statement released by the French Navy, the operation was conducted in three stages by the offshore patrol vessel L’Adroit, deployed in the Indian Ocean, and the French frigate Aconit, with the assistance of port authorities within the city.
