Geyser Blows Outside St. Louis Tattoo Shop

Something strange happens about twice a year outside the Art Monster Tattoo Shop in St. Louis, Missouri: The Cherokee Geyser erupts from the street after a heavy rain, according to Chris Sabatino, who captured this eruption for posterity on July 6 outside the store.

The Cherokee Geyser, so named for its location on Cherokee Street, is not portrayed in local media as a great place for summer aquatic recreation. A local report says the source of the geyser is uncertain, but an unusually high Mississippi River on one side and influx of rainwater on the other causes pressure underground that blasts the stream upward.
