Gunmen Storm Regional Prosecutor's Office in Mazar-E Sharif

At least five people were killed and over 25 wounded when gunmen stormed a regional office of the attorney general in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province in northern Afghanistan, on April 9, leading to a gunfight with Afghan security forces.

The BBC reported that witnesses saw four gunmen enter the building, while Radio Azani said that “at least three men” had stormed the building, disguised in military uniforms. The Taliban has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to a statement from the regional government in Balkh, civil servants, soldiers, and members of the police force were among those killed and injured.
