Haneke's ''Amour'' dominates European Film Awards

Michael Haneke’s ‘‘Amour’‘ has swept the European Film Awards, winning four categories, including best film and best director. The Austrian director was in Malta to receive his prize. The drama about growing old, explores the effects of dementia on an aging married couple. ‘‘I think you will find autobiographical traces in any film. That is legitimate. You’ve got to get inspiration from somewhere. But I do hate autobiographical films,’‘ Haneke said. Reporting from Malta euronews’ Sebastian Saam said: ‘‘Four prizes in one go for ‘‘Amour’‘ by Michael Haneke. Now one can say that there is only one prize missing. That, however, could follow at the Oscars as Austria has put forward ‘‘Amour’‘ as its entry in the ‘‘Best Foreign Film’‘ category at the Academy Awards.’‘
