Heavy Rain Floods Porirua City

Heavy rain pounded New Zealand’s Wellington region on Thursday, May 14, with widespread flooding prompting emergency rescues and causing transport havoc. The length of the Kapiti Coast was affected, including Porirua, Lower Hutt, Mana Island and Paraparaumu, where up to 117 mm of rain was recorded in 24 hours from 2pm on Wednesday. A Paraparaumu man was rescued after he was swept under a bridge, according to Stuff.co.nz
