Heavy Rain Triggers Street Flooding Throughout Portland, Maine

Heavy rain prompted street closures and the evacuation of a day care in Portland, Maine, on September 30. Up to four inches of rain had fallen in the city by early morning, according to local media. The children at Trinity Day Care were evacuated safely from the basement of a church where the day care is located, the report stated. Also, a number of cars were abandoned after they stalled when drivers attempted to navigate flooded streets.
