A Kurdish government helicopter carrying emergency aid to displaced Yazidis in the Sinjar mountains of northern Iraq crashed on August 12, killing the pilot and injuring other passengers, including Vian Dakhil, a Yazidi member of the Iraqi parliament.
The helicopter crashed close to Mount Sinjar after picking up 20 to 25 Yazidi evacuees and dropping aid, The New York Times reported.
