Helicopter crash-lands on New York skyscraper

The pilot of a helicopter has died after it crash-landed on top of a skyscraper in Manhattan.

The helicopter burst into flames after hitting the 750ft-tall AXA Equitable building, close to Times Square. Plumes of smoke filled the air following the crash.

The incident happened on Monday evening at around 6pm.

The pilot has been identified as Tim McCormack, a veteran aviator.

Officials say there were no reports of any other casualties.

An investigation is now underway.
