Hong Kong Police Clear Out Occupy Campsite at Government Headquarters

The last tents from ‘Tim Mei’ village, the only remaining structures from Hong Kong’s pro-democracy protests last year, were removed from outside government headquarters on Wednesday, June 24. Representatives from the Lands Department read an ultimatum at the site on Tim Mei Avenue around 9:30 a.m., giving the inhabitants an hour to clean up and get out. Only around ten protesters remained, according to the SCMP.

The presence of people at the site began to decline after the Legislative Council rejected Beijing’s controversial electoral reform package on Thursday, June 18. Credit: Facebook/MM@DBC Hong Kong
