HRW Investigates Treatment of Abu Dhabi's Construction Workers

Human Rights Watch has published the results of its investigation into the treatment of construction workers at the Saadiyat Island project in Abu Dhabi.

HRW found that migrant workers involved in building what branches of the Louvre and Guggenheim museums and a campus of New York University faced forced-labor conditions, substandard accommodation and arbitrary deportation. According to the organization:

“While the abuses concern a small percentage of the workers, the serious problems, which mirror the findings of independent monitors, reveal a gap in enforcement of the UAE development partners’ stated commitments.” Credit: YouTube/HRW
