The human impact of the Gaza-Israel crisis

The human cost of the current unrest in Israel, and in particular Gaza, is increasing as the violence escalates.

Hospitals in the territory are dealing with a large number of people injured from five consecutive days of bombardment.

Dozens have already lost their lives, however there have been some miraculous rescues.

An 18-year-old girl was dug out of the rubble of one destroyed building. Her mother, however, was killed in the attack.

The Israeli military have carried out a large number of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, targeting rocket-launching sites, a major training base and two media centres.

The World Health Organisation has made an urgent appeal for help in order to purchase medical supplies, which are in short supply.
