'I'm Gay and Voting No' - Irish Men on Why They're Against Gay Marriage

Ireland could become the first country to legalize same-sex marriage via popular vote when it holds a referendum on the issue on Friday, May 22. Keith Mills and Paddy Manning are both gay men and campaigning against same-sex marriage.

In this video for the no campaign, Manning says he is being accused of being homophobic because he is “against the redefinition of marriage.”

Mills says that he is against same-sex marriage as Ireland already has civil partnerships and that marriage should be about children. “To have children, gay men like me either need to adopt or use surrogacy. Surrogacy turns children into commodities, putting adults’ desires above the rights of children. Having babies made to order and wombs to rent,” Mills says. Credit: Mothers and Fathers Matter
