Interior Ministry Says Paris Church Attack Foiled by Police

The French Interior Ministry announced on April 22 that a man suspected of planning to attack “one or two churches” was arrested at the weekend in Paris. Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said that an extensive weapons cache was discovered by police in the suspect’s car and home after he was found with a gunshot wound. Cazeneuve said the man had been known to police, who were aware that he had expressed a desire to go to Syria.

Cazeneuve said police had been able to link the arrested man, a 24-year-old Algerian, to the murder of Aurelie Chatelain, who was found dead in a car in Villejuif, south of Paris, on April 19. Credit: Dailymotion/Ministère de l’Intérieur
