Red Cross president Peter Maurer travelled to Gaza on August 6 to see first hand the civilian cost of the current conflict. In this footage from August 6, Maurer can be seen touring areas affected by military operations. Maurer spoke of the medical needs while visiting Shifa hospital. “With the amount of patients coming to the hospital, almost everything is needed in terms of trauma, surgery, and treatment,” said Maurer.
According to the Red Cross, “During the current ceasefire he was able to visit the neighbourhood of Shijaiya in Gaza City where thousands of homes have been reduced to dust and rubble in recent days of heavy bombardment and hostilities.” Credit: International Red Cross
