Iran, Iraq's Defense Ministers Meet, Discuss Military Collaboration

Iran’s Defense Minister, Brigadier General Hossein Deqhan, met May 19 with his Iraqi counterpart, Defense Minister Dr. Khaled al-Obeidi, as seen in this video with both delegations on the sides of their respective flags. However, not all officials from both countries were invited to the table for the meeting, according to the Iraq Ministry of Defense.

The two leaders met shortly after the fall of Ramadi to Islamic State to discuss bilateral security and defense measures and terrorism.

Iraqi officials had called on Popular Mobilisation Units, volunteer Shia brigades, to support Iraqi forces in Ramadi, which controls a strategic supply route to the Iraqi capital, located around 100km away from the city.
