Iranian President Rouhani Calls for Non-Oil Exports in Persian New Year Message

Speaking on March 20, the eve of the the Persian New Year, Norouz, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani thanked his countrymen for supporting the government’s policies to strengthen Iran’s economy and lessen its dependence on oil, saying such approach “paved the way for the victory of Iran’s negotiators against the world powers.”

Rouhani said Tehran sought to develop strong ties with its neighbor and touched on the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 group, Russia, China, the US, the UK, France and Germany, to reach an agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program as the July 1st deadline became closer.
