Iraqi Air Force Transports Families, Food Supplies to Baghdad, Haditha

As families began to flee the Iraqi city of Ramadi, fearing advances by Islamic State forces, US defense officials said they had no plans to cease operations or evacuate Al-Asad Air Base nearby, where the Iraqi Air Force mounted an operation with C-130 aircraft to distribute food and relocate families.

Iraqi Air Force personnel can be seen loading food supplies for transport to Haditha and al-Baghdadi, and transporting people from Haditha to Baghdad.

The food supplies, according to a translation of the waybill seen in the video, are from a Shia religious endowment called Al Ataba Al Husseiniya. This local report and others indicate that US forces are training Iraqi military at the base, but have no plans to evacuate it despite the proximity of Islamic State fighters.
