Iraqi Forces Continue Battle Against IS in Baiji

The Iraqi Ministry of Defence made advances against Islamic State militants in Baiji, Salahdin province, on May 17, amid fierce battles in the oil-rich region. The ministry statement on attacks against IS in Baiji coincided with the militant group’s seizing of Ramadi, the capital of the contested al-Anbar province, on the same day.

Footage posted by members of an Iraqi special forces unit called the Gold League is described as showing the moment of a suicide attack in Baiji. Credit: Facebook/Gold League
