Iris-Scan Technology Allows Refugees Access Cash Assistance

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reports that, in an effort to bring timely assistance to refugees, Jordan is using iris-scan technology to enable them access funds.

According to the organization, there are currently around 23,000 families living in urban areas in Jordan benefiting from monthly cash assistance. They say the iris-scan systems mean they do not need a bank card or PIN code. This video features a report on the cash-assistance program. Credit: YouTube/UNHCR
