John Bercow’s Legacy As House Speaker

After ten years as Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow announced he would be stepping down. In a speech to MPs on Monday, he said the post had been “the greatest privilege and honour of my professional life”. Among other things, he will be remembered for impressively hollering “Order!” to unruly lawmakers. Bercow has been a member of parliament since 1997 and become speaker in 2009.
