Julie Bishop Remembers Former PM Malcolm Fraser

Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop paid tribute to former Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser in parliament on Monday. Bishop recalled hearing of the ousting of former Labor Prime Minister Gough Whitlam during a law exam, Fraser’s role in the dismissal, his “far-sighted approach” to Asian relations, and discussed the man behind the “enigmatic and complex” political figure.

Fraser, a former Liberal Party member, died in the early hours of Friday at the age of 84 after a short illness. “He was driven by strong principles and deeply-held values,” said Bishop. Credit: ParlTV
