Kerry and Lavrov Discuss Russia's Military Involvement in Syria

US Secretary of State John Kerry discussed Russia’s military actions in Syria with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in New York City on Sunday, September 27. The two met as world leaders gathered in the city for the United Nations General Assembly. When asked about the purpose of a new intelligence-sharing arrangement between Russia, Syria and Iran, Lavrov gave a short answer: “We coordinate the efforts against ISIL.”

Kerry said the US is looking for solutions for the on-going conflicts in Syria, as well as for Syria to transition peacefully into a “united, secular” country without foreign troops present.
