Kerry Unveils Country Reports on Human Rights

US Secretary of State John Kerry unveiled the department’s country reports on human rights on Thursday, June 25. The report called out “atrocities” committed by the Syrian government; the stifling of open media and civil society in China, Egypt, Iran, Russia, and Saudi Arabia, among others; and the “failure of inclusive governance” in Iraq.

US Secretary of State John Kerry said, “We approach this with great self-awareness. But we also understand that when human rights is the issue, every country, including the United States, has room to improve. And the path to global respect always begins at home.” Credit: Facebook/US Department of State
